One of the most traditional clubs in the history of Minas Gerais and Brazil, América Futebol Clube was founded on April 30, 1912, by a group of young people in Belo Horizonte. 110 years after its origins, in 2022 the first ten-time world champion would face an unprecedented challenge: the Libertadores da América. With the aim of documenting this and other stories for its fans and the world, América knew it was time to focus on innovation, taking the passion from the fields to the digital world as well. In partnership with Surfe Digital has developed a new América website and all the details of this large and challenging project can be found below:
The oportunity
Where tradition meets evolution
The Libertadores challenge was the starting point for América's digital transformation process. The club's unprecedented presence in the cup brought visibility to a need that could no longer be neglected: innovation and evolution of its digital presence. it was quite rigid and limited, it presented problems in 2 main and important points: experience and aesthetics.

There was great difficulty in hierarchizing and categorizing content in the old structure. So, not even the fan user could easily access the information and news they wanted, much less the club's marketing team could have autonomy and control over the publications. In this scenario, it was practically impossible to manage the large flow of content about upcoming games , club updates and player news. Furthermore, the design and aesthetics didn't help, quite the opposite. It was necessary to modernize!

Surfe's work had as its main objective (in addition to delivering a website that matches the history of América Mineiro) to bring fans closer to the club, focusing on their experience on the new website. And what fans most want is to be up to date about everything that happens on the team and behind the scenes, so it was necessary to bring autonomy and control to the entire American team.
